Summer Camp 2003 was held in Bideford. The camp started off this year with bokken and shinai practise. Newcomers were instructed in the art of cutting whilst the others partnered up to learn set pieces in order to learn new ways of wielding the 'sword'. Mornings were dedicated to the second lu of the Chen Tai Chi. The four bo kata were also practised this year. For anyone interested the names are: 1st Sueyoshi No Kon 2nd Sakugawa No Kon 3rd Shirotaru No Kon 4th Matsukaze No Kon 'No Kon' means 'of the bo' There was also, of course, plenty of karate. Particular attention was given to taking pieces of kata away for work against a partner. |
